JEWISH PISA AND LIVORNO
Discover the local culture and traditions of the Jewish communities of Pisa and Livorno, while
enjoying a classic sightseeing tour with your private guide and separate driver. Start an easy walking tour and visit the Jewish cemetery of Pisa, which dates
back to 1674 and is one of the oldest of Italy. Inside, gentlemen will be given a yarmulke and the guests will begin with the tour, starting from the gate with
the Lions of Judah perched on top, and then to the gravestones dating from the 15th to the 20th–century, and to the chapel with a memorial plaque
dedicated to the Jews deported from Pisa. Next to the cemetery is the entrance to the Field of Miracles, for a glance before continuing to
the synagogue. Enjoy a scenic drive along the banks of the Arno River and then visit the synagogue, which is located on the second floor of an elegant mansion and
also keeps a mikvah, an oven for baking matzah and archives dating back to 1660. In the adjoining garden, you will see a sukkah
during the celebration of Sukkot. A short transfer in the lovely countryside and you will enjoy a fascinating tour of Livorno on our special, Jewish signature itinerary.
